Beat amateur is a creative outlet for exploring the uncharted realms of electronic music. Modern audio production techniques are opening new worlds of possibility that were unimaginable 500, 100, or even 50 years ago. Beat amateur seeks to incorporate newer 'electronic' or 'beat-oriented' sounds and styles with time-honored songwriting traditions (e.g., classical Western or Eastern music, jazz, folk) as well as incorporating traditionally disparate styles.

Blue monday is the first full-length album released by beat amateur. It includes instrumental tracks written over a broad span of time that vary in both tempo and style. Overall, the tracks are unified by an introspective, reflective, or relaxed feel. Beat amateur is joined by Hypnotix-2000 member Mahmud Qasmi for two tracks on blue monday, who has provided invaluable writing and producing assistance.

Beat amateur currently operates out of Hamilton, Ontario (yes, that's in Canada!) but will presently be relocating to the US. All music on blue monday was created digitally using royalty-free samples and did not require additional recording.
