Mandroid
“Futurefunk” EP (Dominance
Records, DR-031)
After
the surprising comeback
release of the american 1980s electrofunk legend Newcleus on Dominance
Records,
the german label is proud to present one of todays top new electro
producers out
of the United Kingdom: Mandroid, aka Adrian D.
Rataj, analog synthesizer
collector and former breakdancer with the Defcon 5 crew in Leeds, best
known for
his previous releases (two albums and several EPs) on the famous
Breakin
Records, run by Ed DMX (DMX Krew), and on the USA-based label FBI
Recordings.
His musical background ranges from classic 1970s synth-music like John
Carpenter, to 1980s electrofunk (Herbie Hancock, Paul Hardcastle) and
electropop
(Kraftwerk, Thomas Dolby, Yazoo). After Mandroids first appearance on
Dominane
Records in the year 2004, with the track “Machine
Made” (on the Global Surveyor
Phase 2 Various Artist album), he is now back to deliver a hot package
of seven
new quality electro jams full of funky spacy synth melodies and
vocoderized
vocals, best to be discribed as a colorfull retro-futuristic visions of
things
to come. This is electrofunk!
