terje winther -
trespasser
Terje
Winther is a Norwegian composer and musician that makes
music
with analog modular synthesizers. In other words: real craftsmanship in
wood, metal, analog components and heated solder. These instruments are
large electronic systems demanding interconnection of different modules
in order to create sounds. Everything is completely open without any
preprogrammed patches or sounds. Is it only by combining musical and
electronic improvisation that the music is realized.
Trespasser
is improvised, sequencer-based music with a clear
influence from Jean-Michel Jarre and the Berlin school of electronic
music with names like Tangerine
Dream, Klaus Schulze and Ash Ra Temple.
Terje Winther
and his band WintherStormer
has performed at several
festivals like the E-live
festival in Holland, The
Oslo Synth Festival,
Oslo Prog festival
and at art exhibitions and vernissages, and Terje
Winther has contributed music on many CDs and
compilations.
The music on Trespasser
has a vivid expression filled with
imaginative sounds, lucid rhythms and reminiscences of things both
familiar and unknown. This is music with roots in the 1970s, when many
bands and musicians wandered around in the corners of rock, making
music in the unknown region between electronic noise and the
minimalistic riffs of rock.
