For all of the iPhone and iPod Touch users here there is good news. As you know, these devices currently don't play shoutcast streams. That's too bad because there are thousands of decent programs and stations to enjoy. These portable devices are perfect for listening to them.

On the Winamp site there is news of a new Shoutcast 1.9.9 Server that is in beta test mode the supports modifying the stream so the Apple devices can receive Shoutcast. See http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=291762 for the details.

I'll set up a beta channel here on our Linux server when time permits. Too bad there isn't a beta of an OSX version. Hopefully they will release an OSX version of the 1.9.9 version when it is finally released.
