Hi. Im orteusz from Poland. Im rookie in synth and NM is my fisrt one, so I have basic question, whose is probably simpel for u guys, but for my it really horible. May u explan me how can I use few patches in the same time? It's mean how is possible to play for exaples two difrent patches by MIDI.(how to play two channels) You know I record one sound from BANK A and another one from BANK B but I hear only one of them. I want to use both. First twiking a littel bit with first and then switch for another one and twiking that one. but always when I switch bank i hear only one. Im not really good in MIDI. I hope thatu can help my with it. As audio/midi interface I use edirol fa101 and as sequencer Ableton Live 8. BTW. Sorry for my english Twisted Evil

Greetings.

welcome orteusz

Use two Slots, like A and B. Press both buttons together and two LED's will lit. And boths Slots have to be set to the same Midi channel.
You are using a NordModular Rack?

BTW see the Slot as a single synthesizer. All four Slots can be loaded with every Patch from the memory or from the computer hard disk.

Thanks Wout Blommers for that cool really useful trick. Now I can set up and use four sound in the same time but still I want more Evil or Very Mad After your prompt I set up (I use for it key Shift) Split A as midi channel 1, split B as midi channel 2, C as channel 3 and D as channel 4. But I don't know how to set up more than 1 midi channel for oen splot??? It's possible? I think it;s possible to use 16 sound because midi have 16 channels but how to set up it? How big multitimbral nord modular has?

BTW. I use NM key verison without expand board.

Thnank you for reply and sorry for so basic question, but I was looking for it on Polish forum but unfortunately not too many people use that gear:(

Big up!

In practice only four, what Midi is concerned. The G2 has Midi modules, so if a Patch isn't that large more can be placed into a Slot and can react to different Midi channels.

The Expansion board works only to the number of voices (notes played at the same moment) of the synth.

Well, I never tried this and my NM isn't connected at the moment, but you can create a sound using a Sequencer module and some Oscillators (which are set KBT off) to play a rhythm or a chord (using a tuned Sequencer module or a Keyquantisizer) which can't be changed by the incoming Midi notes. I suggest to control the changes of the patterns by Midi CC's in your soft sequencer (like CuBase) program.
Other parts of the Patch can be used to create sounds using Oscillators set in KBT on, so these will react to Midi notes.
Beware of the Patch load limit of 100%, so it can't go on for ever Smile
The Slot runs on only one Midi channel, reacting to the Midi notes and Continues Controllers.

Just checked the Manual: Osc KBT also disables Midi note In! It has to work, only don't use heavy filtering or Audio modules like the Phaser to much...
