I'm a total newb with laying out boards.. I've made plenty of kits and I know a little theory but this is very new to me.

Can anyone tell me if this layout for the power section of the Fonik Attenuverting Mixer is correct? (I've not powered on yet as I have some questions)

I'm basing it on this version - http://www.modular.fonik.de/pdf/f-mixer-rev3.pdf

I have a couple of questions.

1) Where does that ground from C5 & C6 go?

2) I'm confused about the Zener Diode section, its producing +5v which I assumed was to normal the inputs... but they are +7.5v on the schematic

Any help would be great Smile

Use the same common ground, like this, and you should be good to go..

this is just an typo. the +7.5v are a leftover from the last revisions, where i used a voltage divider instead of the diode, giving 7.5v.
so '+7.5V' should read '+5V'.

Cheers guys. It's funny how a little knowledge is a dangerous thing Embarassed At least it stalls me rather than me making wild assumptions Wink

ok so that circuit seemed to work, I've now tried out the section with the Zener Diode..

I'm feeling dumb again though... how can I meter +5v on this circuit?
I can read 15v across the points I would expect but can't get a +5 reading anywhere

that diode has both legs into the same row of the breadboard, meaning it's basically shorted out... you need to move one end down one row, as well as any of the other components that connect to it...

dammit, that's what happens when you do this at 1am

see with it like this, across the zener diode I'm reading a value of around 2.5v which is constantly falling.. and again nowhere am I seeing 5v
