Hello!
I just wanted to share my recipe for success with the Nomad editor under OS X 10.8.4 with a multi-port MIDI interface.
Update: I have managed to reproduce success even after reboot, but with a certain amount of trial-and-error.

1. Download and install Nomad as per the instructions. Yes, I have the two library files in the Library/Java/Extensions directory.
2. In the PC editor, set synthesizer sync to external.
3. I have the MOTU Midi Express 128 set up in OS X Audio MIDI Setup, with two devices for the Nord Modular; one for the regular MIDI and the other for MIDI control. I do not think this is required.
4. Disconnect the USB cord to the MIDI interface.
5. Launch Nomad.
6. Insert the USB cord to the MIDI interface again.
7. Create a new synthesizer which communicates over the port used for MIDI control. If you do not see any ports, delete the synthesizer and start Nomad with connected USB cable.
8. Press the yellow diamond.
9. Enjoy.

I don't have to disconnect the USB cord on subsequent launches of Nomad, at least while not having rebooted.
Best wishes!
