Hi -- I've had my Nord Lead for quite some time. I play in a very LOUD band and have gone through a large number of speaker cabinets (having blown them up, played so low I tore them, so on and so on... ) , as well as having gone through a number of amplifiers (as many of them just don't seem to bring out the right tones or sometimes any-- no I didn't blow those up too..)
I have finally figured out what kind of amplification I want and should probably get, but now I am looking at speakers... knowing that my Nord has a HUGE frequency range...
I just don't know what it is... does anyone have this knowledge? Or can you point me in the right direction of how to find out?

welcome to the forum vernzilla,

Which model of Lead do you have?

Although I don’t have a Nord Lead, I have no doubt that it can produce frequencies from deep subsonic to +20KHz. I have a Nord Modular Rack (NM1) which I think uses the same DSP and audio DACs that were used in at least the early Lead models. The NM1 uses 96KHz DSP and DAC clock rates, so at the very least it can easily do 20KHz at the top end. The harmonics of the raw sawtooth and squarewaves will come blazing through when you open the Lead filter up. I haven’t measured the subsonic range of the NM1, but I also have a Nord Modular G2X, and I know that it can supply a subsonic signal of 10Hz or less.

I don’t play live, so I can’t recommend a sound system for you. But I’m sure that there are others here that could recommend full range systems for powerful live use that can stand up to the wide frequency range that synths can produce.

BTW, if you haven’t already noticed, there is a Nord Lead and Wave sub-forum here:
