Subject description: question on R21 of the wavefolder layout
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi all,

first of all I must say, that I'm not an geek in electronics, but still build modules, so excuse my primitive questions.
I finished the wavefolder and selected an 680 ohm resistor to the position of R21.
In the layout it says I can use a 330 ohms resistor, depending on the inout level.
Could someone explain please what the difference between those to means??
Does it fold more or less or can I simply input higher/lower audio??

Thanks

It looks to me like that resistor is just part of an attenuator that reduces the signal level. If you had a very high level, you'd probably want to use the lower value resistor. If you have a very low signal you'd probably want a higher value.

I'm sure Yves designed this board for normal synth audio signals. If you are using something else, you might have to change the resistor. If you are connecting to other synth modules, the 680 will probably work fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong as I'm still a noob, but as far as I understand R21 and R18 determine the pp level, cp. this thread:
http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?highlight=wavefolder&t=28155
So with the values given by Yves you'll have a 20V pp signal ...
