Subject description: how to generate an accurate clock signal + general sequencer implementation resources
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

I'm in the process of prototyping a simple MIDI sequencer for iOS. I have managed to get my prototype to send and receive MIDI reliably. However, I'm having some problems in generating an accurate clock using NSTimer. I understand that NSTimer is known not to be particularly reliable and accurate, but I don't know what alternatives are available.

Does anyone have any info on alternative ways of generating timing info accurately on iOS?

I'd also be interested in any resources with info on implementation of MIDI sequencers in C. I'm currently making it up as I go along and I'm sure that there must be better ways to achieve much of what I'm trying to do.

Thanks in advance.
