Akai MPD24 with Midi Cables

Recently my MPD24 started crashing my PC when plugged in to the USB port.

so...i got the big idea to get some midi cables and an ac adapter to avoid having to use USB. i seem to be having a difficult time finding just HOW to do this.

everywhere i search, including the manual, is extremely vague about this option. currently i have the midi cables going from my MPD24 to my Fast Track Pro. They're in the right ports for each device.

am i even doing this right? can someone help me with this? When searching for Midi Controllers in the options for my software (Traktor Pro 2, FLStudio, etc) they do not recognize my MPD.

The original problem might be fixable in the first place. I'm assuming you're on some kind of windows. You get a STOP code? can you transcribe the important bits of it, like the STOP code and the arguments inside the parentheses . Might be a driver update needed.

MIDI isn't usually plug and play, though. You might need to manually set up the MPD as a midi device somewhere. Assuming it's on one channel you'd just refer to that MIDI channel. Someone else might be able to help with those applications.

well...actually, when i plug my MPD via USB...i get no power and the PC just shuts down.

i've NEVER had an issue with my PC. it's been a rocket for the longest. now...my MPD used to work just fine. not really sure what happened. i must also mention that the USB port on the back of the MPD has been slightly loose for about a year.

so...i figured that port was the culprit. when i plug in via AC Adapter and Midi Cable, all is good...just can't get anything going on with the PC.

do i need a Midi to USB connector? or can i just simply plug into the Fast Track Pro and get it going somehow?

btw...don't really understand what you said about the STOP code. i get nothing like that.

Hmm, ok, that doesn't sound like a normal crash. It sounds very strange indeed.

Can you try a different USB cable on a different USB port on your PC?

Do other things work in that USB port? It sounds a lot like there's something wrong in hardware.
