This is an idea from Mosc from this topic: http://www.electro-music.com/forum/post-40173.html#40173

Basically the current auto assign feature sucks, because it will assign cc's only to those front panel buttons and knobs that are assigned to something. This is inconsistent with different patches and is a major hassle to get working predictably if you want to use knobs and buttons.

Mosc proposed that there should be static midi assignments to the front panel. Basically every knob and button on all the parameter pages has it's own midi cc. That way when you assign something to the parameter pages, it automatically gets a cc - the same cc for the same location in every patch. This is a great idea, because it's some kind of standard that you can setup your controller to control, and it's the same for every patch, so there's no need to get in there and change assignments every time you want to try out something new.

Those with fixed midi cc's on their controllers can still manually assign stuff with the learn function/manually, and this will grab the cc from the parameter pages.
