Wikipedia - Nord Modular page. Subject description: It could use a bit of work. |
 |
|
I've done a little bit of work on the Wiki NM page in the last few days, including adding a link to these forums, but it needs a good deal more more, including a real cleanup. And of course, the expertise of the members of these forums is just about the best there is on the subject (perhaps with the exception of Clavia themselves).
So, I'm calling out to one and all here to contribute to the entry (even if it's just a few words, or a clarification, or correcting an inaccuracy), so that anyone in the world who is wondering what the hell the NM series is all about can get a great first lesson there.
PS On the off chance that you're not familiar with Wikipedia, well, it's one of the best sites (if not the best site) on the web. It's a non-profit online encyclopedia of anything and everything under (and over) the Sun - there's well over 800,000 articles so far in English alone. And what makes it so comprehensive is the fact that it's a voluntary collaborative effort - all the info is being continuously added and edited by the users (and you don't even have to register to edit). Ultimately, it's about making the sum total of human knowledge freely available to all. |

this is good, but it is also what makes it wildly inaccurate more times that you might think... _________________ Spiral Recordings |

Well, of course there is always that possibility, but it depends on the subject matter as to how likely that is. I heard recently that at least as far as the sciences go, Wiki was found to be only about 30% more prone to errors and inaccuracies than the Encyclopedia Britannica. It's not a resource to be taken for absolute Gospel, but then neither is anything else on the web - or even the contents of most books or newspapers for that matter.
As far as a subject matter like synthesizers go, there's not much chance that they'll be accused of killing JFK. Last edited by Qualium on Wed Dec 21, 2005 10:33 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Hmmm....
I took a look at the wikipedia NM webpage - and it already contains two of the most important pieces of good information - a link to the official Clavia G2 website and a link to this excellent forum! What else needs to be added? _________________ varice |

Yeah, actually those were my contributions from the last couple of days. Maybe not a lot more needs to be done after all, now that I noticed out that the entire manuals were freely available for download. But maybe a bit more on the G2 would be good, and the Classic NM stuff needs a bit of a cleanup. Last edited by Qualium on Wed Dec 21, 2005 2:03 am; edited 1 time in total |

Good work Qualium!
Your weblinks on wikipedia back to Clavia and this site should be a very good start for anyone interested in more information about the Clavia NM systems. _________________ varice |

That's valid, but if you read a magazine or newspaper article about a subject or event you happen to be involved in or knowledgable about, how often would you considder it acurate?
Getting paid and getting credit does not magically make people impartial or knowledgable. For all it's failing and frankly regardless of it's value I think Wikipedia is more *exciting* then most other publications.
E-M and the NM scene might actually be a very worthwhile topic to write about there. Wikipedia by it's very nature is closely afiliated with the open source movement and in many ways published NM patches are open source. What we have here is a community of people that start talking about non-technical (schmooze) subjects too because of a shared interest in sharing code (in whatever form). Just a sugestion. |
