PostPosted: Thu Dec 28, 2006 2:16 pm    Post subject: Announcement European Modular Event 2007
Subject description: July 30 - Aug 6 (yes, a full week!)
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

This is the official announcement for the European Modular Event 2007, the successor to the Nord Modular Events from the past. The Event also encompasses the European part of the electro-music 2007 event.

The Event will be held in a beautiful chateau in the Belgium Ardennes, from July 30 to August 6. For a full week the chateau will be transformed into a sonic heaven for electronic musicians; meaning a place where you can jam and improvise from dawn to dusk and dusk to dawn with like-minded musicians.

The main theme of the Event is sharing our music: sharing musical ideas, techniques and knowledge to inspire each other. It is the perfect place and time to meet the fellow musicians you communicate with on e.g. electro-music.com and other forums and email lists. It is possible to present your work, do a performance or build an installation by yourself or together with others, present or attend a short workshop on some subject, etc. Details and program will be worked out in the next months. The organizers would like to keep the program open for a lot of ad hoc jamming and improvisation.

The chateau has lots of single bedrooms and a few double bedrooms, so all attendees will stay in the chateau where the Event will be held. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be prepared in the chateau and served in the big dining room. The chateau is located at a small pond, fed by a mountain spring, on a beautiful estate at a quiet, rural part of the Ardennes. The whole estate is available for only us to take a walk, lie in the sun, swim in the pond, etc. So, you can take a break from the Event and do something else whenever you feel like. The surrounding area is nice to do some biking or go visit the small medieval towns in the Ardennes. So, it’s no problem if you bring your partner and/or children.

You can find some pictures of the location here:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~rhordijk/FrandeuxPics/

The cost for renting the chateau and preparing the food is shared equally between the attendees. The fee to attend is Euro 400 a person, which includes lodging for seven nights plus all the food and non-alcoholic drinks like coffee and tea. There are 35 beds in the chateau, meaning that 35 people can attend. Next to the chateau is a small guesthouse (independent from the chateau) where you could stay a little longer before or after the Event, e.g. if you travel from far. There will be many international guests, and to properly organize the logistics a fast reaction would help us tremendously. A reservation is made final by paying the attendee fee of Euro 400. The organization hopes that you can understand that because of the available amount of beds (and some of us have fronted up the rent money) we have to use a ‘first paid, first served’ system to finalise the reservations.

Of course you are invited to bring your favourite instruments and/or laptop. The organization will provide for some basic PA and a WiFi server with a fast Internet connection.

We will gather at the chateau on Monday July 30 and we have to leave in the morning of Monday August 6. There will be a little van to pick up people and their luggage from the local train station or the Bruxelles international airport (a one hour drive).

If you would like to attend please ask Wout Blommers at blommoo@wanadoo.nl or Rob Hordijk at rhordijk@xs4all.nl for further details on payment etc.

See ya,

Jan Punter

That looks great. I sure wish I could be there, but alas. . . Looking forward to reading what and who went on there.

Sure, it's great for biking there, if you don't mind a few hills. And bring the other stuff as well of course.

When ready for it please contact Rob or Wout, those are the ones keeping track of things. I'd not wait too long ... Very Happy

Sounds great. I'd love to attend. 400 for room and board is a bargain.

Can we bring a friend or are all beds needed for musos? Are the beds big enough to share with a SO?

Peace ... RemixRick

[Txt deleted: Never post while under the influence ...]

PPS which brings me to why I joined this board. I'm trying to learn how to play this wonderful synth. I'm sure I'll be saying that for at least the next year. This synth is DEEEP. It may become my main axe for the next 10 years. Way to go Clavia!

Peace ... RemixRick

Of course it is no problem to bring a friend or partner, everyone is welcome.

But..., we're very quickly running out of the two-person rooms with double beds, so don't hesitate too long if you want a double bed. Email or PM me private for details.

Hi,

Just want you to know that I would REALLY ENJOY attending something like this. Unfortunately, my travel plans aren't taking me to your part of the world this summer Sad

Anyway... keep publishing the invitations... one of these days, I'll be able to!
