Yeah,
I've been wondering when someone might get interested in our chat room. Everytime I check it, it's empty. I'm sure all it would take is for a couple of people to start using it, and a lot more of us would do the same.

For those that want to use their own IRC client, the electro-music chatroom is found here:

Server: irc.blitzed.org Port: 6667 Channel: #electro

Maybe we can work on a scheduled weekly night to chat about DIY synth stuff, etc?

You know Mosc, I was wondering when you were gonna chime in there and say just that!! Very Happy I certainly would like to see this resource used more often but most of the time, nobody home. Crying or Very sad

In my opinion, It would be nice to set up separate "rooms" corresponding to the various sections in the forum, for example DIY, or, MIDI Controllers, etc ... I know there are lots so we may have to filter things out. That way there is a sense of privacy if only a certain group want to discuss a certain topic. I realize it may be a tough sell as it is not used that much right now. Hmmmm, maybe more would use it if there were individual rooms Question Question Question

Comments ........

Well, it seems the people who have responded to this thread are predominantly SDIY focused, so maybe we should start there and see who gets interested. I'm sure setting up extra rooms would not be an issue for Mosc, if and when they are needed.
The thing is to know when to check.

I like the idea of setting up a day/time sort of meet for SDIY chat in the chatroom. Like Sunday nights or something... I know a few other grops that do a similar thing, and it seems to work out quite nicely. The benefit of it being that instead of the 10 interested people randomly checking an empty chatroom at random times throughout the week, those people can all meet up and actually chat. Just an idea..

I would be quite happy to set up separate chat rooms if there were enough people using the one we have. No need to worry about privacy since there are so few people on our room now, and everyone that uses is would be happy for any discussions that might start.

I just fixed the little chat room indicator at the bottom of the forum index page. It has been broken for too long a time.

Our chat room has a nice feature. When you log on, just type "hello" and on most peoples' computers a sound will go off. The word "ping" works too. Very Happy

A regular schedule would be great too. It's hard to get a good time since we have people all over the world. 10 PM in Europe is about 4 PM on the US east coast, but that is about 4 AM in Australia.

One nice thing we have is the streaming shoutcast server, so it would be possible for people to play their instruments in real time while the chat room is running. I've always thought that would be fun. Not an official online concert, but more of a friendly show-and-tell, if you know what I mean.

How do you use the chat room? When I click on it all I get is a blue page with smiley's in the middle.

I had the same thing until I realised that you need to install Java.

__10AM East Coast Time
__10 PM Australia
__4 PM europe

In my View the best Day to start seems to be Saterday or maybe sunday.
So that way its for everybody an acceptable time i think.

That seems pretty good to me. We could give it a try. I think Sunday might be better because people tend to have things to do on Saturday, but that's must my observation.
