Hello

I'm a NM G2 rookie... just using it for 2 small weeks... but some of you may already have read/heard from me since I'm quite highly involved in the Tasmman community... I'm very impressed by the mean skill level of the NM/G2 community.. I'm sure I'm going to learn a lot from you all.

When starting playing with my brand new G2, I heard some sound quite close to my old JX8P... so I decided to emulated it as an exercise to discover the G2...

I first have tried to use an NM1 JX8P patch from Roland Kuit (using the NM to G2 converter) but it appears to be too far away from the real JX8P. So I have rewritten the patch and add some extra "correctors" (the main one is the "Filter Phase" connected to the usual JX filter) to get the real sound. The result is incredible: you can play with both keyboards at the same time without hearing the difference. The main change is from the keyboard and the polyphony management (better on the JX than on the G2: is there any way to change the polyphony management on the G2 ? what I would like to do is to reuse the same voice if you press 2 times the same key...).

Everything is wired to the G2 knob/switch/display...
Fill free to ask for some other JX sounds if you are insterested in

Christophe

welcome Christophe,

as a non keyboard player I can't really judge your patch, but I'm sure others will be as happy with it as you are Very Happy

Yes, welcome!

Your patch is well thought out and fun to play. I can't speak to the accuracy since I only used my friend's JX8P a few times but it certainly reminds me of many of the sounds it produced.

This is a great patch, excellent sounds. It has been a very long time since I heard a real JX8P but this sounds like I imagine it sounded like. Smile

Welcome Christophe!

There is no G2 setting for the voice allocation scheme - it seems to be fixed in the "rotate" mode. I also wish that there was a way to set the mode to "repeat". My Prophet-5 uses the repeat mode.

Thank's all for your comments

Concerning the polyphony management, if nobody has idea about how to do it, I'm going to add it on the wish list (what is that rookie ?... 2 weeks with a G2 and already some improvement wishes .... Embarassed )

Well even rookies can see when room for improvement can be made! Laughing

I will post a Wish List request for an option to select polyphonic voice management modes.
