weird pitch-stick behavoir |
|
|
Hi,
I did buy my G2 about 2 1/2 years ago, and used it really carefully, but since the last few weeks the pitch stick is sending crazy parameters, without touching it.
Has anyone similar problems?
What should I do?
Maybe it is just the contacs. So should I Clean it by my self or give it to a professional service?
Thanks

sometimes they get to sensetiv it can be outside vibrations from the street or so..especially on keyboardstands that can happen..usually its very small pitchwheel commands that can be interpretated as an analog feel.. i dont care much of them..
But i ve damped my pitchstick a bit with some selfsticking rubber at the shaft from the inside..
An other machine i modified with an extra tailored foamblock...but that makes the pichstick go a bit harder...but looked cool..i must look if i ve photos..ah yes...
Its not to easy to tailor the foamblock because it has to be gurantied that it dont pushes the stick more in one direction than the other... it was however very easy to apply..the internal construktion is like as it was made for such a foamblock..
I used antistatic foam..but at the area are no sensetiv electronics...
But probably anyway only a thing qualified service personal should do

Hi Alby
There is a known issue with some of the early pitch sticks delaminating. There are no contacts to clean (it doesn't use a potentiometer) so it is a trip to the repair shop. Mine only cost $NZ30 to replace. |

Thanks.
Especially for the inside pics.
So I will probably choose the safest way and bring it to a repair shop.

Same thing happened to mine, a cheap repair was all that was required. |

Hi,
I talked with tthe shop where i bought my g2 in germany, and a new pitchstick coasts 130 Euro. This isn't a cheap repair, i think.
How much did you pay?

130 euro sounds way too much..maybe we should check with clavia directly and i put it in for you... maybe they charge 100 euro for the 4 soldering points |

I paid 30NZ$ which is 16 Euro.
I suspect this was just the labour, as this is a know fault with early G2 pitch sticks. The new one is a lighter colour. |

100 euro is too much for labour...that is a half an hour job...
so with official rates it is between 30 and 40 euro for the labour max.
I do studioservice myself and worked for some of the bigger companys in berlin..
probably the calculation is profit on the stick itself an a full hour for the replacement...that gives something in the area of 130 euro..
But as qualified service personal i can say..that is no 1 hour job.
11 screws and 4 soldering points......maybe they charge for transport of the unit to the workshop and back? |
