The Yamaha Manual Library is a large collection of manuals and documents covering most of Yamaha's electronic musical instruments, professional audio products, audio/video products and related peripheral devices. This Library serves as a comprehensive online knowledge base and convenient aid when using Yamaha products.

This is how it should be done. Roland is doing much of the same.

you mean:
http://www.roland.com/manuals/en/index_alpha.html
but it only includes current instruments. the Yamaha one includes out of production items too and that makes it much more valuable (IMNSHO Very Happy )

This is excellent! Now both Roland and Yamaha are getting their acts together! This is how it should be done. I have been following the Rland site for awhile now, and it seems they are still adding old and obscure gear. It would be excellent to see them add service manuals for everything older than say 1990 or so.

This would be awesome, but why do I have a weird feeling that it won't happen? I guess they don't want to put all those eBay sellers out of business.... Rolling Eyes

I was able to get a Jupiter-8 service manual from a Roland site, about 2 years ago. You could specify which model/manual you wanted, then would get an email with a download link once it was ready.
I don't remember the link though (

I was told that Roland bought Siel, so I requested manuals the same way. It didn't work. I never heard back. Confused

I remember visiting this site also. It was an official Roland site with a huge directory of nearly all of their vintage products' user and service manuals.

I tried this archive for the VL-1, but there's only the User Manuals.

Does anybody have a VL-1 Service Manual ?

(I have a VL-7 synth, and wanted to bring out the aftertouch as a CV. Bought the VL-7 service manual from Schaltungsdienst Lange many years ago, only to find that the VL-7 manual refers to the VL-1 manual, and only lists what's different in the VL-7, on 3 or 4 pages .... Crying or Very sad )

JH.

If I recall... it was Alesis that began this trend of PDF's of their manuals online.

You folks at MOTU and Studio Electronics (synth guys) could learn some important customer relations from them.

No one is going to get rich holding out waiting for $20 to $40 for a manual but by making them easily available you may sell more hardware! Otherwise we'll just pdf them ourselves... its nice to have them on the hard drive for quick reference rather then finding them on the shelf.

Yamaha doesn't publish their service manuals on the internet. In some very rare cases of extremely popular instruments you may be able to find a version that someone has scanned in.

In the US, in the past I was able to purchase service manuals by calling the main switchboard:

Yamaha Corporation of America
U.S. Headquarters
Sales of musical instruments, PA equipment, etc.
6600 Orangethorpe Ave., Buena Park, CA, 90620
Tel: (1) 714-522-9011 Fax: (1) 714-522-9961
