Hi, I've created a vocoder patch, but the synth picks up any sound coming through the mic. i only want it to play when a key is actually pressed. It sucks when it picks up other background music when I'm not actua;;y playing. At the moment I have to ride the volume control! hardly ideal..

I know it has something to do with the gate fucntion on the keyboard module. I just need to know what I connect it to?

Any help??

Cheers,
Jonny

It's not necessary to use the gate output from the keyboard module, as it is built into all envelope modules. Check the first patch attached here. I'm also attaching an patch showing how it could be done using the keyboard module. This technique is not the best for this purpose of course, but sometimes you want to control the sound flow by other means than the keyboard, and then the level module is very nice (I like to use it a lot).

Hope this helps! Very Happy

/Stefan
