What the Hell is this? |

Do you like repetitive music? Philip Glass? Did you like those old Analog-Sequencers? Are you into MultiRhytms? May I dare to ask you to check this link : www.sq4.be. It's free, it could be fun, and, to be honest, I really need your feedback .
The program is far from finished and I really need some technical / creative advices...
Thanks in advance! |

Welcome to our site. Thanks for the pointer to your proiject. Very interesting. I've been involved in sequencers of one type or another since the early 1970s. I've designed and built my own hardware C/V type sequencer, and I've written C programs to generate midi. I've used KeyKit, SoftStep and ArtWonk, too. I'm a fan of TechnoToys.
I downloaded your program and fired it up. It isn't intuitive how to get it runnng so I checked the help. You're off to a good start. I think I see what you're getting at. Individual sequences for pitch, duration, volume, etc. Good idea. I can make a few suggestions right off the bat.
1) individual tempo for each of the sequencers.
2) Overall scaling volume for each sequencer. Something like a channel MIDI CC #7.
3) Like you say, the loop points is pretty limited. You need fwd/rev of the steps, and you need to have clickable start points as well as end points.
4) You need presets, sorta like the Techno Toys sequencers. Something you can jump for one to the other interactively, and/or after some timing signal from the sequencers.
5) Four parameters aren't enough, you need virbrato, reverb, panning, and some other GP parameters too.
You have a lot of flexibility, so controlling it is difficult.
I couldn't get the Program changes to work. I didn't try the audio looping. Does it work?
I'll play around some more when I get time. |

Well, I was able to change the program numbers. The mouse works differently than with the G2 editor, so you can forget about that feedback. |

There will come a midicontroller-panel where you can freely assign controllers (#0-#127).
A Pan/Volume per channel is planned.
You can find future enhancements on the site.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Ps. I'm looking for some nice presets (the sequences are saved in the file : Saved.Seq) in GM format... |
