A6: some knobs are using low resolution ? |
 |
|
I really hope I'm missing something but...
Seems there is BIG resolution difference between knobs...
I used the A6 to control a vst using the generic remote controller in CUBASE SX3. Well when mapping the A6 cutoff 2 the knob movement is smooth on the vst... switching to A6 cutoff 1 to control the SAME knob on vst... it goes stepped... a lot stepped. On the korg legacy MS20 vst the A6 filter 2 knobs has the right 0,01 increment/decrement... the A6 filter 1 knobs... steps about 0,30... I tried with the polysix... the same...
I tried with other Knobs... the "2" knobs works smooth (osc 2 level, osc 2 tuning, resonance 2) but all the "1" knobs (cutoff1, resonance1, osc1 level... and so on) are stepped... well what's going on?
So i tried to listen to the A6 sounds.... I used a simple "beep" sound. Twisted veeeeryyyy slowly the cutoff knob of filter 2... well it's smooth. tried the same with the cutoff of filter 1... and imho it's STEPPED !!! the same goes for all the "1" knobs like osc1 level and so on !!!
I thought it was my ears going nuts... but it's there.... but ... very very subtle... Controlling a vst is FAR more evident ! The "1" knobs are worst than using MIDICC. The "2" knobs are wonderfully smooth...
ThAt'S REALLY BAD !!!
Please try it and let me know... |

Hi,
I have not experienced this on my unit.
Does this stop you from programming though, or is it a subtle thing that you have noticed?
cheers. |

Thanx for your reply.
I noticed this only because I tried to control the vst... and in that way the stepping of SOME knobs is really big and visible.
Programming it I never noticed... but after SEEING it... well I payed more attention on subtle stepping... and.. found that the "1" knob have a subtle stepping on A6 programming too.
well let's wait for alesis support answer... then I'll paste here their words... that surely will be: "We are not aware about this problem, look to cubase manual..." |
