EM07 on a budget Subject description: ways to minimize costs and hassles for attending |
|
|
OK, so I know that there is a lot of beautiful woodland area surrounded the Art Center. What about the possibility of setting up a tent somewhere in this forested area for the weekend of EM07? I don't want to pay for a hotel room, and I sure don't want to pay for a cab or a rental car every day, so going all-out nature style seems to be the logical answer. In previous years I have missed a lot of the event because I've had to make a long drive there and back each day. This way I would be able to spend my entire time soaking in the event.
Anyone have any thoughts on being economical for EM07? |

Being familiar with the surrounding area having lived there for 10 years
I know that there is absolutely no camping in the park areas.
However our extra beds are taken but you are welcome to pitch your tent in
my yard or you can sleep on my floor .Iam also hosting Roland Kuit and co.
and JEM from fringe element.
PM me for more info e.g. arrival time where to meet etc.
I live in Abington about a ten minute drive from the CAC.

Good question Cliff. I had thought the same thing, and am pretty sure you could make it through a night or two in a 1-2 man shelter. Safety is my only concern.
Which brings me to this: Did anyone or has anyone stayed at the Red Roof up on Roosevelt Blvd? I'm on a supah tight budget (as usual) and would like to find a clean yet affordable lodge to rest me head.
The Roosevelt Inn just wont cut it and I'm afraid the Double Tree is out of my price range. _________________ "Oh, it's yours? Then go ahead and kick the shit out of it..." as said to Michael Victor by Howard Moscovitz 06/05/05

Mike -
I've stayed at the Red Roof both times, and had no problems. It's not the Taj Mahal, but it's cheap and clean, which is all that really matters to me. And it's about a 15 minute drive to the Cheltenham. I heartily recommend the Red Roof. _________________ Scott Raymond

It seems that there is this cloud over Mark and I when we travel to Philly (hell, it followed us to Indy too ). But we always have something to talk about on the way home. It's quite the adventure when we hit the road to say the least. Scott, did you book via Expedia or Priceline, or just thru the hotel itself? _________________ "Oh, it's yours? Avoid the Roosevelt. It is a house of ill repute. People who stayed there in the past have said, "never again". _________________ --Howard

The Hampton Inn is about $100 if you have AAA, plus you get free breakfast. _________________ Jonathan

Mike -
It's like that old saying, "If you can't be famous, at least you can be infamous". Better to be remembered for getting lost than not being remembered at all.
As for reservations, I usually go through motels.com. It comes up quite readily under a search for Philly, sorted by price.
Have you sent me a copy of Glacial yet? Haven't recieved it yet. _________________ Scott Raymond
