Hi, I need a replacement for a TC40H004P chip in my casio keyboard, but I can't find the datasheet anywhere. As far as I know, this chip in the Toshiba format is no longer available. They are common throughout a multitude of casio keyboards.

In the casio service manual, the part is listed as a hex inverter. Does anyone know where I can find the datasheet, so as I can compare the pinouts to substitutes? I have an almost certain feeling it is the same as a 74HC04 hex inverter, but I want to be sure.

Anyone know?

Cheers, Graham

I did a very brief google and all I could find was this:

http://www.datasheets.org.uk/specsheet.php?part=TC40H004P

Which tells us it is a Toshiba Inverting Buffer/Hex Inverter

Unlike other manufacturers, Toshiba don't seem to have their data sheets on-line so checking the pinout could be a bit difficult.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Adam, that's as far as I'd got also. I'll keep trying.

We can make a plausible assumption based on the matches found at
http://www.datasheet4u.com/

tc40h008 = Quad 2-Input AND Gate (same pinout as 74hc08)
tc40h000 = Quad 2-Input NAND Gate (same pinout as 74hc00)
tc40h002 = Quad 2-Input NOR Gate (same pinout as 74hc02)

therefor, the tc40h004, being a hex inverter, most likely has the same pinout as the 74hc04

Follow up:
Matches with "tc40h" at http://alldatasheet.com/
produced other ICs with the same pinouts as their 74hc__ equivalents

Thanks Richard for that extra info, I think I can conclude now that they are equivalent. That's good news.
