I picked up one of these for $20 a couple of months ago, and I've been wondering if there's any reason not to strip it for parts. The 64+ knobs alone are worth more than the $20 I spent, not to mention the pots, switches, sliders, PSU, and possibly some old op-amps. But if it has a great sound, which might justify using it to mix together my analogue synth modules etc. I'd like to know that before I start "de-constructing". It has a dual band parametric EQ on each channel. Heaps of connection options etc. Anyone have a definate opinion either way?

I´ve used the 350 a few times way back when it was new and "hot". We are talking 1981-1982 here. The only hot thing about it was that it was affordable. I wouldn´t say it sounds great. I´ve never opened one, so I don´t know much about what´s inside..

Frankly, at the time I barely found it useable, but as you already know I`m a bit anal about audio gear so I guess you should make up your own mind. Laughing

$20? was that Oz $? Not that it matters. Personally I'd strip it and and recycle as much as I can, bearing in mind the age of it.

Okay,
2 say strip it, and I'm convinced. Laughing That'll be a lot more fun than it's original use anyway. I'm thinking about carving 2 or 3 of the EQ sections out of the main PCB and converting them to Voltage Controlled. Probably through hand rolled vactrols or something similar. The rest could be stripped for parts.
