Subject description: How can I switch beetween the Ableton's seq variations with one knob or button movement?

Hello everybody!

I'm using the Ableton Live for playing my recorded sounds. I've built in the G2 a useful Midi Controller which is good for the Audio track's master volume tweeking and muting. I 'd like to switch beetween the track's variations with the G2! I have minimum 6-7 variations in each track and I have to switch very fast beetween them - about 8-10 direction per second! I"ve used my laptop's keyboard for starting the sounds, but there are about 25 buttons and I can't see what I am switching now.
So, can you help me? I need a switch patch like the variation switch solutions by Mother Misty, but I have to use only one knob to switch beetveen them, and all variations must have an individual midi control message that the Ableton can detect the direction. I imagine this like if you assign a Nord Filter and you can tweek the knob back and forth (that meens jump down or up in the Ableton's variations) or push the button to jump from HP to BP...
Can anybody send me some idea? Rolling Eyes
Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I did not get the idea of what you need.

Ableton calls the the thing similar to a mixer channel "track". the track has so called "slots" that can contain the recordings called "clips".

You can switch multiple "tracks" and "clips" with the "scenes" from the master track.

Or do you want to control the G2s variations? If so from the G2 or Ableton?

Thanks for the help!

Ah I see.

I have patched up a fast solution, but you can do much more...
With my pch you need to put the ableton in midi learn mode (strg/apple M)
and then select one scene after the other and press the "on" button for each.

If you would like to have one endless button solution controlling the 20 scenes from your example you would need to patch up something with a control seq (for 20 scenes two seq) sending values -> that triggers the buttons that do
send the controller data.

Ah you understand what I mean?

Thanks the fast reply. I've done this patch before you posted and it works very well, but - your second idea is what I'd like to do! But I didn't find any module that has a triggered button what I could use. :S
Yes, I need an endless button, because I haven't got a lot of space - only 120 knobs, it's just 6 tracks in Ableton Smile

thanks a lot!
