The inspiration for these compositions is order in chaos.
Specially 'Out there' 'A Sign in Grains' are inspired by the fascination for the order and chaos of the universe and nature.
They are not as much an representation as well an attempt to express magnetic and electric (or yin and yang if you want) qualities in nature (Like i.e., magnetic versus electric or fluid/legato versus pulsating/staccato.) It may sounds a bit esoteric, but I just like to play with this ideas for the sounds and structures of my music.

No Exit, Out There and A Sign in Grain together form form a triplet.

No Exit ( http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-2064.html ) is made during my course at the Institute of Sonolgy in Utrecht (the Netherlands).
The title is merely a description of the technique that is used, namely a variety of feed back techniques via tertsfilters and delays.
The peace is a result of a linear process of experimenting and improvisation. Although the generated sound are generally random or chaotic, farther processing resulted more structured patterns that formed the final peace. Although it is magnetic in nature the rithmic patterns, at the same time, give it its electric quality.

Out There is based on the same base sound material from No Exit. This time it is cut, and reordered, layered and individually processed by granulation techniques. Like No Exit, Out There is generally magnetic in nature.

A Sign in Grain Inspired by the Root Of Sine project from www.audiobulb.com, I used 1 sec. 440 Hz sine tone and processed it by a variety of granulation techniques.
A Sine Grain generally electric in nature.

Where No Exit is down to earth, Out There and A Sign in Grain presents a journey throe the stars.

Good work Johan, classics I'd say. Like the works on your MySpace as well.

Good you bumped this Carlo - I had a quick listen earlier but had forgotten to mark this "unread". We have too many posts ...

They are made on the same day. Modular event 2004.
I did some effects on the avatar. But now there are, backwards that is.

I liked A Sine in Grain. The other one was long and I had to listen for a long time to get the point of it. I liked the grained one. It seems to get to the point faster. I dunno, though, because I wasn't listening to either of them in a good place.

But I like the grain one better. Smile it tells a better story.
