here

www.mobilchakram-project.com

you will find [if you've got some time and patience to spare] two mobilchakram glitch / lo-fi ambient tracks. let me know what you think if you feel like downloading / listening to 2 8-9 min. pieces.

the tracks are almost 100% clavia nord modular, that is, the only non-nm bits are voices lifted from the radio.

Hi. I found it somewhat difficult to read the text on your site (although I thought the graphics were cool), but found the mp3's and downloaded both zip files. Intriguing ambient industrial. Both had a science fiction/gritty futuistic feel to them. Like Blade Runner. Red Orange Brown Gold was almost feverish or hallucinatory in its intensity, like some replicant wandering a cityscape on sensory overload. The sonic approach reminded me of XTSW's Bridge. To Capitalize On A Failure got repeated listens. I liked the broader and more distinct spectrum of sonics and the way the cyclical patterns varied and consequently interacted with each other. Actually, I'm still looping it Cool .

thanks for the feedback. i must listen to xtsw - never heard of it.

btw, it's also funny how i got into NURSE WITH WOUND - a friend told me the other day that my soundscapes reminded him of stapleton's NWW, so i borrowed a few cd's to check what he meant...

Yeah, Blade Runner is a masterpiece.

Your mention of NWW motivated me to suit up and descend into the vast cassette archive vaults for another listen to Thunder Perfect Mind after all these years... well, it's technically very refined, but a bit sterile - probably why it had to be retreived from the depths of the archive. Your work, particularly To Capitalise On A Failure, is more... organic? It has a deeper aesthetic quality that draws you in as opposed to NWW which I feel just sets itself up as a sonic canvas and always maintains a separateness.

Not surprised that you haven't heard of XTSW. Old stuff. They have a number of releases on Sound of Pig cassette label. And actually it might have been their release West that I was thinking of.

Check out Shannon O'Neill's Radio Music on Headtones Glow in the Dark Adventures program stream. For another quality track in the same sonic neighborhood. Cool

organic - yes, this is what i like about certain kinds of 'electronic' music and i do want this term to be associated with what i do. and that's part of the reason why now i'm going backwards technologically - in a way. i've bought myself a vintage uher reel-2-reel tape recorder to be able to manipulate sound in a more physical way...

i've fond memories of a korg stage echo i used to own - nothing [i mean no plug-in] can beat the kind of warmth and character this beast delivers. and the sheer sensual pleasure of playing with tapes, looping, cutting and so forth... i would trigger long samples live using my akai s 6000, but now it's going to change as i'm starting to make physical loops [good old days of pink floyd, tangerine dream and klaus schulze + the so called krautrock scene come to mind...] which i find overwhelmingly exciting Smile)).

shannon o'neil? i need to catch up and check out the stream you mentioned. thanks for the recommendation.

thanks for reviewing / listening to it, though i doubt whether the word nice is what i have in mind when i answer the question 'what's your stuff like?' Smile. anyway, i prefer to assume my target audience [is there any?] don't find it dodgy Smile. cheers again.

giving a listen now. it's cool that you're going the route of more lo-fi technology. this piece "to capitalise on a failure" maintains a nice wet sound throughout, which is a nice thing for an electronic track. you acheive a deep sound without resort to buckets of reverb, which gives the piece a very minute, listenable feel.
