Hi!

I just joined this forum. I'm a potential A6 buyer. I've been lurking here for a few weeks while making up my mind on my next synth purchase. I've been mulling the A6 versus the Virus TI, and I have to say the A6 sounds far more organic than the TI.

Just introducing myself, and wondering if anyone has made any ambient/space music tracks with their Andromeda that they'd care to share, as that's my primary interest.

Thanks!

Russ

Welcome. I haven't tried the A6. I do use the Moog Voyager and Little Phatty for space music. I also use a Waldorf Q rack. I find the Q and the analogues really sound great together. If you do get the A6, I think you might want to get some nice digital synth with arps and step sequencer as well. That would make a nice combination.

I used to have a Virus Indigo and I have had an A6 for a month or so. I personally prefer the A6. But they both their strengths. If money was no object, I'd have both! You would never regret having the A6. It is a total beast. Not many polyphonic analogs being made these days.

I have a Korg MicroX and MicroKorg, both with arpeggiators. The MicroX's arp is polyphonic, too, which is nice. Plus, lots of VSTi's for other digital sounds (the Wavestation plugin is a favorite of mine...)

Thanks

Then I'd say you are ready for the A6. I assume you have a nice processor for deep space reverb.

I have a bunch of VST effects I can use for that, although I have been
considering a Lexicon MX200 hardware reverb so I'm not necessarily
tethered to the computer.

Thanks for your input!

I like the Lexicon sound. It's very good for space music. I have the mpx550.
Reaktor has some great reverb effects as well.

I've got a TI and an A6.

They both sound fantastic. The A6 is by far the deeper machine. I also like playing it more - you can do fantastic stuff with the ribbon.

While the TI has about the best filters I've heard on a VA, they're still not as good as the ones on the A6.

The TI will most likely be replaced soon, but the A6 is unique and nothing like it will be made for quite a while - if ever.

Also, (obviously), the A6 is a real analog synth, so it just has a different 'psychological feel' to it.

If I could only have one, I'd keep the A6.

Thanks for the feedback. I will probably go look at a TI this weekend (the local music shop is supposed to be getting some in), but I am becoming more and more enamored with the A6, from MP3 examples I've heard on the web. I'm also a knob freak, and the A6 definitely wins in that department!

I'm still looking for any ambient / space music examples of the A6 if anyone's got any. Maybe I should make a separate posting with that title.

Thanks again

Well, I've ordered my A6 from a local shop. They said it won't
be in until early July. I guess I can study the manual in the meantime, and
make a space for it in my studio:

I've been brushing up on my music theory the last couple weeks; so hopefully by the time the A6 arrives, I'll be ready to make some decent music with it.

Can't wait!

Looks like the wait continues. My A6 was supposed to arrive early this month, but now Alesis has pushed back delivery to September. I checked a bunch of online retailers, and they all have the same story, too.

*sigh*

I guess I'll have to keep exploring my microKorg in the meantime. Smile

Not a bad little synth in it's own right -- it has the huge advantage of being battery operated and portable, so I can jam and tweak quietly on a park bench while on the road, which happens a lot.

Hi rh2y and welcome

I'm turning on my Andy now! cheesy
I love it and I still have so much to learn! Got mine in January. I had to wait a long time to get mine too.
When it finally arrived I had to send it back because it had a tuning problem. I hope your's is fine!

Good luck and I guess I'll speak to you later.

Got any MP3's of this beastie you can post?

That's all I can do for now --- listen to other people's Andys... Crying or Very sad

I found a small trove of A6 MP3s on Bluesynths.com
