How to create it?

Hello all,

I am quite new on this forum. I don't have my own G2, but I am thinking about buying it. Could you please explain to me, how you do so called "building blocks"?? Maybe it is a stupid question for you, but as far as I know, there is not such thing in Clavia editor as Building Blocks Creator or Macros Creator (that could provide some kind of lower level programming language, to program DSP processors). So how you create these building blocks?? Maybe you just create it using existing modules??

Yes, you create them with existing modules, sometimes in ingenious combinations, then copy and paste them into your patch. If you have a powerful enough PC or Mac, download the G2 Demo software or, if not, download the editor for your platform and try opening some of the building blocks. Most of them are well-documented, too, and indicate where to connect the input(s), where to connect the output(s) and which controls to use.

Thank you for reply. That's exactly what I wanted to know. What a pity there is no such thing as for the Creamware platform and Modular. There is SDK that allows users to create their own modules (using smaller pieces, however this is still high-level language - something like NI Reaktor). I am as well professional musician as a computer science specialist and programmer, I would see it very nice even to be able to program these DSP processors directly:)

Yes, I can see the utility of an SDK but you'd be surprised what can be accomplished with the G2's basic modules now that the calculation order is somewhat predictable. I never thought we'd have the number of DIY filters, for example, that sound so different from the G2s stock modules.

Thank you for that link. I have already got this nice soft modular synth. But I would rather prefer something designed for hardware. So now the Creamware is the only company providing such a solution? Smile

By the way, any news from Clavia about upgrading OS and editor and adding some more modules (espacially oscillators...)??

cappy, I have discovered, that you are programmer as well. I am a graduate student. Don't you know when Clavia could organize some internships?? (Now, as on their website, it's impossible).
