Lyric for collaboration Subject description: Submission of a lyric for Electro-Music collaboration |
 |
|
Per a discussion with MOSC at Electro-Musoc 2007 on Sunday, I humbly submit the following lyric for collaboration with electro-music members. Thsoe who wish are kindly ecouraged to compose music and share it with the forum / group.
Arrangements Of The Terminally Deranged
Strange how things will change, to stay the same
Odd the trouble found, to dodge the blame
Same old music, players, all that's changed
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Flowers in cannon barrels, dare to bloom
Dour seeks the power of clouds mushroomed
Smiles at miles of myriad plans they've made
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
U.N. teams inspect
Spinsters to deflect
Satellites reject the doubter’s pun
All the blood that’s spilled
Our future we rebuild
On fabricated duties of the gun
A world where drastic action has poor price
A slice of spastic faction pie looks nice
Top it with a crop of whipped up blame
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Chaotic patterns swirl in prescient tryst
Mistaken dreams projected on the mist
And on the field the battle births its stain
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Diseases to protect
Missiles to deflect
Satellites detect the damage done
All of them we killed
For them we rebuild
Our statues on the barren ground we've won
Only losers ever were to blame
Survivors queuing up to file their claim
Children playing games, find the mines that maim
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
And even though it seems their God's the same
Embattled, their religions are estranged
The dissonant heretic chords are played
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
(Words Copyright 2007 Daniel D. Gray)
There are already a couple people who attended the weekends events who are interested in putting music to this lyric. Lets see what everybody comes up with.

| It's a little to rhymey for my taste, but a good idea. I rarely use lyrics, but when I do, I wouldn't write them myself. |

Hmm... Not sure what I would do with this. The style of writing kind of pushes the musician toward an aggressive hip-hop style... so I feel like I would have to do something exactly opposite that.
But actually, I'm too busy with (and way behind on) current and planned projects, so I'm afraid I'll have to take a pass.

Actually I did have a go at this by feeding the text into a speech synthesizer (just microsoft's sam). I then tried to build something out of it in the wave editor, I was totally unhappy with the results though as I could not make it to have the quality of the text itself or anything near a protest or an accusation. Maybe that I'll find some inspiration later. _________________ Jan |

Could someone please enlighten me regarding the appearant arbitrary shoveling of this topic to it's current location?
When asked to post this by Howard, I was told that the "Composition" sub topic was where it should go. It has resided there for some time, and suddenly shuffled off to here? I may appear to over sensitive, but I had grown accustomed to it's location. Is there any method of notifying a threads creator that it has been relocated?

I have no idea why it was moved. As notifications go, such would have to made by the moderator who moves the posts/threads.
Anyways... why not move it back. I can do that.
As for style.. I guess this would suit something like PHs Imperial Walls .. you know.. that kinda of wonderful noise. A tad of Bruckner could do as well. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Thanks,
It just threw me when I couldn't find it.
When conceived, the lyric came across to me as a fairly slow, almost talking slow tempo. intro and first verse with an acoustic guitar, then toy piano-ish analog synth type thing which would grow in intensity slightly as it moved along. Sort of detuned or a tad off beat or off key to emphasize the absurdity of the concept(s). I was just hoping to see how others felt about it.
Thanks again for the help! |
