Hi,

I'm looking for an inexpensive step sequencer that I can use soley as the midi input of a korg kaos pad, so that I can automatically modulate a low pass filter effect while still being able to affect the sound by hand (when appropriate) using the kp's grid.

The thing I have in mind is a very simple, small box that will churn out midi data in set patterns - everything I have found so far has had a huge amount of 'bells & whistles', and has cost in excess of £150. I'm just looking for something very basic.

Does anybody have any ideas or recommendations?

(Thanks!)

You can pick up a Yamaha QX-21 for about $40.
Other possibilities are Kawai Q-80, Alesis MMT8.

Yamaha QY-70 or QY-100 can go for cheap sometimes as well...they are small & portable to boot.
