Anyone got one of these, yet? curious because I know Jan said he discovered the 1.1 hardware had some kind of workaround to correct 'a design flaw' when he opened it to install the DSP expansion...

Man, I'm really tearing myself apart over this... I wanted the keyboard so bad (and had two of them) but both had cosmetic and mechanical flaws that forced me to return them.

I have a Korg microKontrol on order and wonder if I might be better off with an Engine, instead... I wish I could be patient enough until they work out these 'design flaws'...

So sorry to hear about this. Two units returned. Wow, that's bad luck, but your odds for getting a good one are going up. I'd wait it out until I got one that was working.

Please, nobody explain probability theory here.

The main control knob on mine is quite wobbly, but that's the way it was on the G1 so it hasn't bothered me. Maybe they are all that way and it's nothing to be very concerned about.

I'd be reluctant to give up the incremental rotary controllers with the LED collars. To me, that's a main draw to this synth. It's a must for live performance. With a midi controller, every time you change patches, you have to reset the knobs somehow.

Be patient...
Try meditation...
Smell the flowers...
Listen to music (avoid electronic music that will make you think about this synth you don't have)...
Go an a big drinking binge...

Seriously, we all know how you feel. In time this will all be resolved. Hang in there...

Thank you for that, Howard... You've sufficiently assuaged my anxiety for the time being...
And I, too, would find it hard to abandon the LED-collared encoders and independent LCDs.

The way you write this it's almost as if I meant to say a bad thing with that about the rack. That however wasn't what I meant to say, it was just an observation.

I know how hardware is made and that things like this can happen. It's not by definition a sign of bad quality in my view (although a hardware designer in general would like to avoid patching PCB's of course).

Sorry to hear that.

Jan.

You're right, Jan. I didn't mean to misrepresent your comments and hesitated to restate them, even. Embarassed

I also understand that it's not necessarily indicative of bad design/inferior quality.

I realize that i'm not helping matters, much, and have probably said more than enough about this subject.

That said, I'm really impressed with the G2 and wouldn't want my complaints/frustration to deter any prospective owners from demo'ing/trying one out for themselves.

Not meaning to be negative in any way (I am lusting for an engine for some time), but a Dutch shop just mentioned that a current engine batch had to be returned to Sweden because of hum, originating in the power supply. I don't know what workaround Jan referred to, but does this sound like a similar issue? Well anyway, the good thing is they found out before selling, the bad thing is I have to wait longer for my coveted box. Crying or Very sad For now my avatar really reflects my mood.
