Nord Sound Manager |
|
|
Hi!
I'm new here.
I bought a NL3, and I'm trying to dump some sounds with Nord sound manager.
Is that the only way to save my own sounds and have a backup?
Well, I'm must be a real noob, cause I can't get this going.
I have my NL3 connected via MIDI with my computer. I open the sound manager. Then I click:->file->new, and then i click on "recieve".
On the NL3 I press Shift+MIDI (together- Dump One), but nothing happens.
Am I missing something?
Can you please tell me how to back up my sounds, cause I can't afford to loose them.
Thank you very much. |

danchen,
I had hoped Wout would answer this, but he seems not to be around. I may be wrong, but isn't that program meant to be used with the nord lead 2 synths?
I don't know what would be a good program for picking up and sending out midi dumps, I think MidiOx could do it. I've seen that one being mentioned I think. People have been using their sequencer software for this as well.
When I have such a problem I usually write a bit of software for it myself - but I wouldn't want to hurt anyone with that _________________ Jan

Hi danchen,
Indeed, I was not near a computer and I have to connect the NL3 first, which I will today.
And, no, Jan, the Nord Manager is only to the NL3, so it has to work. It was the intention of Clavia to use it to ALL Clavia synths, but they never finnished it.
danchen, I will answer later.

Hi,
Questions like this I always check first the answer
What you do is correct, if you pushing the gray button as [Shift] NordLead2 users always press the [Active Devise], 'cause the Shift is over there (I do, mostly
If you're doing this correct, it should be a Midi problem.
1 cables correct?
2 Midi interface correct? (I use MidiSport 2x2 and sometimes it's set wrong: Midi Through instead of USB)
3 Midi Settings in Nord Sound Manager set right?
Check if you can make a Bank Upload (synth to computer) using the Upload command in the NSM [Upload > Bank] NSM sends a request to the synth [Output led will light up] and the synth answers [Input led will light up]
Success.

Okay, danchen ...
I had to wash the dishes and sweep my kitchen floor, but now I'm patching the NL3 again...
Well it is fun, anyway.
I'm also looking and testing the NordLead3 Randomizer, which gives more useful patches then the one made for the NordLead2...

I tried all combinations (cables), but it doesn't seem to solve the problem.
I have an EMU 0404 (internal) instaled.
Midi Settings in Nord Sound Manager - I also tried all the options.

I will try that. A good idea. Unfortunatly I will not be able to try that until saturday.
Thank you, Wout and Blue Hell, for a quick response. It sure feels great to be welcome. |

That's great!
But first I must learn how to save my NL3 patches on a computer, so I could later recall them if something goes wrong or if I accidently overwrite some of my patches I need for performing.
Thanks again, Wout! |
