another example of the new feature of LMSO already shown on Dorian Schlesinger. The tuning is based on steps of 175.489 cents each, dividing a just perfect fifth (3/2) in 4 equal intervals. it is a non octave scale as you can see from the picture below. the mood is repetitious and exotic Cool

I have posted a movie of this song on my web site:
http://www.seraph.it/dep/mov/repetitions1.mov
to show you what's happening with Reason and sample based instruments retuned by LMSO.

the video is cool. I like those asymmetrical sequences going on and in a few days Reason 4 will be out.

Hey, good this got bumped, I had a listen last week on the sub-inch laptop speakers while I was at work and that was not optimal Very Happy

Anyway, now on better speakers this sounds great ! Is this a scale used in Indonesian music, that's what it reminds me of.

Nice music and the video is interesting too.

I'd like to hear some kind of solo reed instrument on top of this texture. Idea

Just a suggestion. I love the tuning. It really enhances the music.

thank you guys Very Happy
the tuning sounds exotic but I don't know if it sounds Indonesian. The timbre too helps making it exotic.

I think that something like this one in standard tuning would sound banal. these 2 last pieces are simply exercises in learning this new technique added by X.J.Scott to LMSO.

Yes, I guess it could be that as well.

I really enjoyed it. What do you plan to do with it? Is it going to get some kind of cadence? Speaking of which, I don't find it Indoneisian sounding. On the otherhand that suggests to me the possibility of a gamelan like rhythmic/sync cadence.

Thanks Robert,
sofar these short pieces are only intended as examples of this new interaction between Reason and LMSO. it is a new sequencing technique that allows to save a sample based instrument (in Reason format) retuning each sample to the specifications of a particular scale devised with LMSO, so that it is possible to use the newly tuned instruments inside Reason with its internal step sequencer.
I have more "gamelanesque" pieces up my sleeve, btw Cool

A very nice video indeed.

Logic works with reason as well, ReWire?, so Reason could be used as a microtonal soundengine for Logic? Or that might not work?

thanks Stein,
Logic, LMSO and Reason are an unbeatable trio Exclamation thanks to ReWire Exclamation
I record in Logic, send the data to LMSO that retune them and finally they get played by Reason, flawlessly Exclamation A joy, at least for a geek Cool
