I have recently bought an ex-demo A6 in excellent condition. After taking it home I found out that the portamento knob moves in full circle without stopping, I feel a little resistance in the spot between the 5 to 7 o'clock position ( just above the on/off button ) but not enough to stop at like it is with the other knobs, is that repairable ? also the value of the portamento time jumps from one extreme to another even while making fine adjustments using that knob, so I adjust it using soft knob 1 under the display and it stays stable. I don't think the Dubai dealer will be ready to do much, this unit was the only one brought to Dubai for display in the Alesis booth in last year's trade show and no one there even knew what it is good for !! I took it for a bargain price but I wish I could fix this . Any ideas ?

Not simply, if rotary pot is broken, only a technical service can have a substitute.
There are good technicians in Egypt?

Yes there is, but will repairing the knob physically also cure the problem of the jumping values ?

Hi, the pots are soldered to the PCB, so you must remove the knobs on the left side, open the unit, detach the cables to the left most of the three front panel PCBs, remove many screws, and then replace the pot.

Then the reverse, being especially careful to seat the buttons and make sure that they're all "loose" within their holes. And screwing in the rest of them, etc.

You'll want someone to do this for you, perhaps. Alesis/Numark should be able to send out a replacement pot for you.

Hope that helps.
