You know, I'm not as inclined to think of this as spam. It's viral marketing, it's piggybacking on others, but then again, quite a few others do it and we let them...

Of course, I haven't bothered to visit it. It's at least on topic...

Chew on this, you lazy lot:

You can hire this company for:

Quote:
Myspace Management
Creative Cultures can manage their customers’ Myspace pages. From design to content, friend-making to networking, Creative Cultures will manage all elements of Myspace.

Great.. that means you can spend all your time here, and Creative Cultures will sort out the Myspace "problem" for you.

Don't waste valuable seconds on it, it's boring. But on topic indeed and for that reason I had not done anything.

Well... the kids over at Creative Vultures are willing to let us in on the secrets of viral marketing: [url=http://www.creativecultures.biz/v2(web).mov]http://www.creativecultures.biz/v2(web).mov[/url]

http://www.creativecultures.biz/v2(web).mov

( seems like we have also discovered a board software bug. This link works but the software refuses to handle it as such, even when it is put inside the url tag.

Maybe one of us can use it as a backdrop for a performance piece. That'd be ironically delicious. Cool

*THE* worst thing that can happen to Viral Marketing is being exposed for what it is.... Just look at Sony's snafu's from the past year.

So, expose it for what it is :¬)

It does seem a bit troubling that companies are being paid for for posting content at electro-music.com, the marketeers are posing as "real people" and that they are in fact abusing community sites. Shouldn´t these guys pay for ads?

It must be said that the Creative Cultures people haven´t really made a huge effort in order to hide their idenities.

They signed up with CC in the nick, the email addie they signed up with is "*@creativecultures.biz". It wouldn´t be fair to call these guys crooks.
Still, I think this viral marketing is very troubling.

Yes, they should. They should contribute something back to the community.

Kinda like wolves posing as sheep?
Seems like it would only work on sheep.
Most people are sheep but few of them are on this forum, I'd say.
And here the wolves get outed.
So I'd say it's not a problem here.
IMO Mass (sheep) culture has been crap for as long as I recall--which is almost the entire time it's been part of military/industrial complex.
So I don't think it will make any difference.

EDIT:

I do think they should contribute to the community but that's an ethical issue and wolves are not ethical. Perhaps their droppings should be shoveled into a special sub forum--could be called the septic-tank.

I did in fact ban the creativecultures.biz domain . I could unban it. Thing is that I did not want these people to edit the posts and the email account entry.

OK, I unbanned the domain but locked the CC001 acccount. I hope we´ll see their managing director showing up here and explain why they are exploting us.

http://www.creativecultures.biz/GuideToViralMarketing.html

"Virals include microsites, videos, games, digital flyer/e-verts and Bluetooth messages"

Could they, whilst here, perhaps also explain how "digital flyer/e-verts" are different from the spam that is choking mail servers around the world with the more than 90%-useless email traffic floating about?

Oh yeah, theirs is legal and paid for. I guess I'm just a chump for not understanding how that makes it less annoying?
