Holy Krep. Treasure bath!

(And I take back what I'd said earlier; I have a perf for an SSM2045, with VCAs, not a 2044 board- although I have one 2044 wishing for a nice PCB to resonate upon...)

I have a rev 2 2044 board I could part with. I'm a little long on both the boards and chips all of a sudden.

PM me if you're interested. I could swap.

Good God man, the Berlin wall has already fallen. What other large structures are you looking to destroy with the sound of fifty simultaneous filter sweeps? Shocked Laughing

Well, what can a poor boy do when he learns there is still some ozone left in northern hemisphere? Shocked

Huh.. yeah.. I have 8 PCBs incoming from Matthias. I´m planning to make an improved version of my old stepfiltering machine. I´ll plug in one Klee + an MMT8 for controlling the stepfiltering fun.

The stepfiltering machine will basically be 4 stereo channels. I´ll throw some compressors and limiters, probably some tube linedrivers, some digital reverbs and some other stuff. All this will be in a dotcom style portable cab anyway so it can be crosspatched with whatever.

WooHoo! Got my 3 boards today, and they really look good. Makes me feel that much worse about missing the PS3100 Resonator board run. Embarassed

'Course, I still have enough unpopulated PCBs to take a bath in. Very Happy

glad to hear you had fun. i built three yet. one proto and two from the PCBs. and yes, it is fun. you can build this module on one evening (having all parts on hand Wink ).

BTW i am still unsure about the cutoff pot, though. i think i will wire it between +V and -V still using 47k resisotrs as voltage deviders (this would be a mod, not provided on the PCB) to get a wider range, which would be quite handy for use as oscillator. i will amend the documentation accordingly.

well, as i planned to build a 4xssm on perfboard, i had all the parts waiting in the drawer Very Happy
but then you announced the second run for the pcb´s and the parts had to wait...
what i´m planning to do is to build a stereo filter with two boards - any suggestions what i have take special care for?
i thought of a dual mono device, with a switch to stereo, channel one then acting as a kind of master control...
i have to think about this one...

best wishes,

tobias

Very smooth build, even for a nooblet like me. =]

Waiting for two big parts orders: one pots, one chips.
Then they come to life! =D

Hi guys, Newbie questions>

Anyone could tell me where i can found two SSM 2044? I only see them in ebay.

About quality... Do you recomend any brand or all the SSM 2044 are the same?

The silver/mica capacitors... Are those that I link correct?

http://www.mouser.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=CD15FC821JO3Fvirtualkey59850000virtualkey598-CD15FC821JO3F

http://www.mouser.com/search/productdetail.aspx?R=CD10CD150JO3Fvirtualkey59850000virtualkey598-CD10CD150JO3F

And the 1k PT146 (3500) resistor... Where can I found it?

Many Thanks!

hi sound,

ssm IS the brand, and 2044 the type.
analog devices bought the ssm productline, and they still produce some ssm chips, but not the 2044.
so: get em on ebay, they´re quite cheap there.

and the micas are the correct types.

best wishes,

tobias

PM me. I could sell you two. SSM2044 are mostly old stock now.

hi edison,

hm, as you mention selling ssm chips... do you maybe have a spare 2040?
i´m also looking for a cem3310 and 3320...

i know that the cem´s are available on ebay from time to time, but they are way too expensive...
i wasn´t able to locate any ssm2040, though...

best,

tobias.

No, sorry. I do have a few other SSM chips, but nobody wants envelope generators or VCAs so I'll probably build with them. And no 2040. Those were nice filters but I think they are very rare indeed.

I do have some 2044s though, more than I need for my own purposes.

yeah, the 2040 are rare indeed Sad

but i need one to repair my emulator 2...

or i just rip the 7 working units out of it and redesign the emu for ssm2044, of which i also have a bunch of sitting on the shelf...
maybe not the baddest idea as the emu uses the 2040 just as lpf...
hmm...
worth thinking about...

but: i maybe would be interested in 1 or 2 envelope chips. those are the ssm2056, right? maybe they are cheaper than the cem3310 envelopes?

best wishes,

tobias
