not transmitting any sysex data... |
 |
|
| Hi, just received new Andromeda, all good! however there appears to be no sysex data being transmitted from any of the knobs. Keys/pitch wheel/modulation wheel/ribbon transmitting & receiving fine. TXMODE is on local/midi. OS is 01.40.12 Also RXMODE seems to be missing on the global page. Any help most appreciated...D. |

I don't believe the Andromeda knobs transmits Sysex data, it transmits NRPN data.
NRPNs are an abbreviation for MIDI "non-registered parameters". Basically, it's very similar to a MIDI controller code -- however, the values are 14 bit. (There's also registered parameters (RPNs), parameters the MIDI specification has defined, but there's not to many of these predefined.)
That's different from Sysex, so if you are looking exclusively for that you won't find it. Cakewalk has an article here that can perhaps help you describe what to expect... basically a sequence of four CC values.
Most modern sequencers should handle NRPNs without much effort, I would think?[/url] |

| I see what you are saying, soundwave106 you're right it wouldn't be sysex. The problem i'm having is there is no data of any kind being outputted from the knobs. I'm wondering if there is a parameter somewhere that's not turned on or the OS is an old version (i'm on 1.40.12). I'm hooked up to Logic and can record and playback notes/pitch wheel/ribbon etc without any problem. (also seeing what's happening in the midi monitor window...nothing from knobs..) Thanks for your help, D. |

1.040.12 is the latest OS. TXMODE should turn the NRPNs on when it is set to MIDI or LOCMIDI, so I'm a bit surprised you can't see anything. Maybe the TXTHIN parameter (that controls the density of knob data) can be turned so low that the data coming out doesn't look like anything to a sequencer. |
