RC4559 vs TL072

Subject says it all really. I'm still not very good at gleening this info from the data sheets, so, how compatable are they?
Noise levels, power consumption?

I have always found the 72 to be quieter and have higher input imp.

When in doubt I always go with the 72 and I have actually "fixed" some of my own designs by switching a 4558 for a 72.

But if you are going for distortion, or a certian sound, sometimes the 4558 is that way to go; many guitar effecct p-edals use the 4558 for this reason.

Your question are a bit difficult to answer because these two are a bit
different in designs, they address different application areas, for instance
the 4558 would be a disaster in VCO or VCF applications as the integrator.

You have tell the current application you intended to use them for.
Its a bit like Orange vs Lemon. Wink
