Hi,

Newbie here - hello to all. I just received a Nord Rack 2 that I purchased from Ebay. Upon opening the box, I first noticed that it has what I believe is a European mains plug. I had a look on the back of the unit and it says that it takes 230V so I grabbed a shaving adapter and plugged it in as I'm in the UK.

Everything works okay, but it's a bit clunky and could be easily dislodged or damaged, so I guess what I'm really asking is "will it be okay for me to cut the moulded European mains plug off and wire on a standard UK 3-pin plug?" I'm sure the unit is well out of warranty so I can't see there being a problem from that angle. Speaking of which, is there a way to find out how old it is - it's running firmware 1.06 is all I know.

Cheers,

mrk

Sure, why not? I'd do the same if I had something with a wrong plug to be used over here. Is it a two prong or a three prong EU-plug?

It's a two-prong plug - rounded pins. I'm not too familiar with European plugs though I do have one with similar prongs from a trip to Stockholm last year. That combine dwith the 230V marking on the back convince dme it was safe to just plug in.

Wouldn't it be nice if everybody just used the same type Very Happy

Ok, that'll leave you with the ground being unconnected then I guess? I don't know what the usual practice for the UK system is, I never saw any two prong stuff when I was in England or (N) Ireland.

It's been hard enough already to get some standardization on voltage in europe I'm affraid, but at least that works now.

Yeah it would be, but it's not unusual for that to happen - I know some of my plugs have a plastic ground pin anyway. I've never seen anything other than 3-prong in the UK.

One of my band-mates has a NL2 - I'll maybe have a look inside his plug (it's not moulded on) to see what's happening in there.

Cheers,

mrk
