noob bender here - i just got hold of a tr-505 but the unit will only power-up from an ac adapter. there seems to have been some kind of battery leak at some point as i found lots of crap on the battery contacts but after cleaning and checking connections the machine still wont boot up unless using 9v psu.

can anyone give me some pointers?

Alternatively if someone could tell me the correct wiring configuration from the CN4 connection to the battery compartment, that would be a big help. Very Happy

Yes, it's supposed to be a bad idea.... but I modded mine to have separate outputs (didn't like any of the glitches I found that much) while it was plugged in and I'm still alive.

In case of doubt you can always use those rubber washing up gloves.

Thanks for the rubber gloves advice Very Happy i did some poking around last night with a circuit breaker attched to the psu and no probs yet.

I read a post somewhere suggesting that drum machines/synths of this nature that use 9v are relatively safe, something to do with the amount of charge stored in capacitors being pretty low.
