Subject description: Lots of rare vintage gear on auction!

Hi all!

It's not my habit of pointing out equipment that other people are selling - that could keep me busy 48 hours a day - but this is definitely not your everyday eBay auction. This is one of the most impressive synthesizer collections ever, with many rare and ultra-rare vintage machines, all collector's items by now.
It is more than 2 decades ago that Felix Visser of Synton started to put this collection together, a collection that was meant to be the core of a Dutch Synthesizer Museum. Not a museum in the common sense, a display of chronologically sorted equipment, but highlighting the function of technological innovation in the development of culture and civilization.
Of course, as so often in this small country, once people with minds of even smaller proportions, such as politicians and civil servants, got involved, things started to go all wrong. Not being able to grasp concepts beyond tradition, they handcuffed this project, bounced it back and forth between them for six long years and finally efficiently torpedoed it. End of yet another dream.

So now, many years later, Felix decided the time has come to finally say farewell to this unique collection and is offering a major part of it for sale through Peter Forrest's Vemia auction.
Although sad, this is still a historical moment of sorts, so I decided to put a picture page together, showing a large portion of these instruments; the portion that is on auction now and which will soon be scattered over the globe. At least there will be one place now where they will stay together in a way. Not quite a museum, but still...

Just go to http://www.vintageplanet.nl and click the link on top to go to this page. The pictures will all expand to screen size, showing the gear in detail.

Enjoy!

lots of interesting stuff Confused I spent some time "windowshopping". One item that made me salivating was the Synton-SPX216 Vocoder for one simple reason:

Question #4 -- What kind of vocoder do/did you prefer?

Felix Visser made the best ones, for his long-gone (alas!) Synton company, all during the 80's. Some other fine devices exist, as the EMI/Synthi big one, and Sennheiser's expensive one, those and dear Harald Bode's design that Moog's good 16-band one was similar to. The ultra-basic analog units were generally mushy-sounding. Synton's had the best intelligibility on spoken words for their original 32-band device, and musicality for the newer 14 band one I currently use: the Synton SPX 216.

but at that time the G2 wasn't available so I'll stick to my vocoder and save a thousand euro Cool...even though this is maybe the last chance to get one of those...
