WOW that looks awesome, Denis. You wouldn't be into making an extra one up, by any chance, would you?

Great panel there, Peter.

And Dennis - wow - a Wiard panel! ...oh, man.....

Norman if Grant agrees that you can have a panel.
Then i would be happy to share the panel design with you.
I can't just share stuff with his graphics without his permision.
But if he agrees you could have a panel like this to.

hey Ryk, have you tried any car breakers? Old 70's bangers have those switches Idea

Whuuuuuu? Hmmm. That might be an idea. Very Happy Still though - looking for MANY. (Plans for, 3 x MFOS Sequencers as drum controllers. That's 48 switches minimum, required there.)

I'd at first thought salvaging from an old Altair / Imsai / etc., but - if I were lucky enough to FIND one of those, I'd have it up and running and installed in my modular! Very Happy lol

Here's my preliminary panel design.

I'm adding a few customisations:

    * Internal clock
    * External control of the start/stop and step functions for control of multiple units by the same button
    * Output of the random state just because I had the panel space to do so.

I will be implementing the manual (variable) range option however I would like to be able to select the maximum voltage as 1, 2, 4 or 8V. This can be done really easily with a dual gang rotary switch but am having difficulty finding ones that won't cost cost me a kidney (anybody know a good reasonably priced source for such items - rotary switches that is, not kidneys)

Cheers
Adam-V

Dear Rykhaard

If these are what you are looking for, I have 24 used ones - they came from a short use test rig, so are almost new. They are C&K 7211, 3 position, on-off-on.

PM me a (nominal), offer, (parts or money), plus carriage. I'm in the UK. Be good to see them on a decent panel.

Best wishes

Mike

Saaaweeet!

For me, that's the ultimate switch. C&K 7211s, are actually DPDT ON-ON-ON switches. Arguably one of the most versatile toggle switches in the world.

Gate Bus 2 could have been made a physical rather than a logical gate bus using these. I avoided that, because new ones ain't inexpensive.

Cheerio,
Scott

Absolutely right - there was a whole batch of C&K's that came from the same scrap source about 10 years ago, I never actually checked the paddle switches, and all the others were on-off-on. They'll still do the job, if Rykhaard is up for all the cutting out - the one reason I've never used them - they seemed too good to thow away on some small project, and a lot of work for a decent panel. They were originally mounted in a big slot with a gap between, probably just to get the rig working. British Aerospace, or British Nuclear Fuels Ltd, (I forget which).

Amongst some other scrap is the attached ...... must find a space for it on a synth panel one day. A very solid reliable pair of switches.....

The C&K 9000 series (and probably others) have actuators that might make a suitable substitute. Have a look at the L41 or L42 actuators outlined on page G-7 of the following catalogue http://www.ck-components.com/media/pdf/catalogs/Toggle_Switches/7000toggle_19nov.pdf

Cheers,
Adam-V

Uncle K...nice! (nice to see you back, btw)

Are those labels across the sliders related to specific output values? ie- notes, etc?

I just put heavier lines at the 1/2 and 1/4 travel points, and slightly lighter lines at the 1/3 and 1/6 travel points. I thought that they might be handy and yet unspecific reference points. For example, when you want to quickly set No.14 to the same value as No.3.
As it turned out, when I did the Lazertran and saw the result on the panel, I thought that it just looked really good, and was typical of the kind of graphics you get behind a series of controls like that on commercial equipment. It will look even better when I finally track down some knobs for my sliders. Rolling Eyes
BTW The actual voltage level (and therefore note value) changes depending on where I have the Max Voltage set. So it really is just a way of dividing up the travel.

krunkus, i really like how you used a sub-panel to mount your sliders. and that woodgrain really looks hot too.

do you mind posting your photos of the subpanel again? id like to see how you mounted it to the frontpanel and the distance between the two, etc.

Once they are all mounted, the extra holes have the toggle switches go through them, which holds it in place. Note:- make the holes for the toggle switches on the sub panel .5mm bigger than they "need" to be. This will cover the mis-alignment issue, which is a guaranteed certainty across 32 holes. Laughing

No - but it's the same way that Korg had constructed theirs. I found that when I was hauling mine apart, to service it. Smile
