for those of you who read my earlier post, i was having severe issues with "hanging notes".

while playing, notes would spontaneously freeze up and i would either have to power off & on (which really sucks during live events), or -- oddly enough -- tap it from the bottom of the board to 'kill' the note; but the problem would come back soon enough. Mad

upon advice through this forum, and through nord support, i took the keyboard apart, removed and cleaned every single key, cleaned the rubber contact strip, and wiped down the circuit board.

after everything was dry, i re-assembled.
[however- i had accidentally put back two of the contact strips upside down Embarassed -- which resulted in those notes not having any velocity control, not to mention they would also hang and freeze sporadically as well.]

after some careful quality control, i realized what i must have done.

after fixing that, i built it back up & powered on...

the result: NO MORE HANGING NOTES..... CRISIS AVERTED (at least for now Confused )

probably took about 3 hours total, but well worth the experience!

goes to show that there's a wide variety of problems that you yourself can fix -- just by giving your nord a much needed bath! Wink

cheers -

NigeL

ps: i perform with the live electronic act called psylab.
download this recent set from sendspace:

psylab @ stone church 11-15-07 set 1

psylab @ stone church 11-15-07 set 2
http://www.sendspace.com/file/92pft1

i use the nord lead 2, as well as a nord electro, & a korg triton.
if you know what to listen for, you might hear a few spots in which i had to reboot the NL2 due to those pesky hanging notes!!!

Right Shocked ... how am I going to say this without sounding like an asshole ... ... I hope you did a better job than I once did ... I had the same problem with the Nord Modular, and I did the same thing you just did ... three times ... and then finally I got me a new keyboard Rolling Eyes

But I certainly hope that your fix will turn out better than mine did Exclamation (after all I have a good idea of the work that was involved).

yeah-- i do too... sorry to hear about your trials & tribulations!

oddly enough, while QA'ing it just now, i noticed some weirdness going on with the 'release' levels of a few stored patches. for instance, dialing up a familiar patch bank, where i would expect the resulting tone to have a short attack and no sustain / release; it instead sounds exactly like the factory preset that i had modified in its place.

however- when i unplugged the input jack, and switched it from Out A to Out B, it worked just fine.

what the hell is up with that??? bad output??

Seems odd, and unlikely that it's a bad output, but I don't know much of the NL2 details.

The Output is never responsible for attack and release, but the Program is. Could it be you loaded the Program in the other Slot?

BTW the Lead doesn't have an input...
