G2 Demo and Mac OSX 10.3.9 conflict? |
|
|
After downloading and trying out the G2 Demo, I find I no longer have sound in Firefox and RealPlayer. Strangely, iTunes has not been effected.
I have a M-Audio Delta 24/96 soundcard and am running OS 10.3.9. The monitor mixer shows input from iTunes, but nothing from other sources of audio.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure where sound settings for Firefox are. Any suggestions for solving it? |

have you already checked out "audio MIDI setup" (applications>utilities>audio MIDI setup) to see which one is the selected audio device? _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

I ran into a problem like this once in 10.3.9 where Cubase would set the global Audio sample rate to 96 kHz, which would cause Safari and other apps to have no sound, though iTunes would still work. Check Applications -> Utilities -> Audio/Midi Setup, and set the system audio sample rate back to 44.1 kHz and see if it works again. They seemed to have fixed this behavior in later versions of OSX.

That was just what the doctor ordered!
Thanks for solving this frustrating puzzle.
Cheers,

I'm glad that fixed it for you!
I remember having the exact same problem and not figuring it out for quite a while. Rebooting just to get your sound back gets old in a hurry!
Maybe someone should whip up a quick AppleScript to set the sample rate back to 44.1 so you don't have to go through all those motions each time.

Actually, I´ve seen the exact same thing but with M-Audio drivers for various M-Audio products. The sample rate setting and often even sync would flip off into the twilight zone. Cubase was not involved at all.
Uh.. we are talking OS X here of course... _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"
