Can anyone here recommend any good ASIO drivers for XP?

ASIO4ALL seems to have died, and I can't seem to get it working again Sad

I've had a problem with ASIO4ALL where it just won't seem to "load" in my DAWs or show in the XP control panel. It's like it doesn't exist. I've tried every setting on ASIO4ALLs control panel, rebooted. Then sometimes it will work.

What sound card/device is this for? Rather than use ASIO4ALL, can you find a driver that is made for the same chipset (intel, creative, etc)?

ASIO4ALL works, but I think it's a bandaid to the wave driver. So I'm not entirely convinced that it could ever truly be as fast as true ASIO drivers (fast = low latency). But anyway, why not download the latest ASIO4ALL that you could find? Should still work fine. XP hasn't changed (though we'll see what SP3 does this year).

I had a similar problem with Usine and ASIO4ALL v2, senso settled this mater by looking in "reg edit";
some host doesn't like strange path character (my problem was the presence of the "%")
if you find it, try to remove it.
for my computer it works perfectly now, but my audio chipsets
are "Intel":
and we also know that there is simply an incompatibility between ASIO4ALL and some chipsets!
good luck.
SV.

Have yo uninstalled-rebooted-reinstalled?

I use ASIO4all with 2 Arturia's Prophet V and Timewarp 2600, and it works fine for me on XP.
Are you running SP2 at the very least?

SV.

Are you sure the % wasn't part of an environment variable expansion?
This %ENVAR% is pretty common on Windows.

I find it highly amusing that XP SP3 is gonna be much faster than Vista, when OSX Leopard is tons faster than OSX Tiger.

Come on Microsoft, get yer shit together! Smile

Actually I had a play with Vista a couple of weeks back- it ain't that bad you know.

I didn't think SP2 affected sound? I thought it was only a security update, I haven't installed it as i don't connect Windows to the net at all and haven't found any issues with this.

Do you know what aspects of SP2 affect sound and how I could install those without also getting the rest (I'm not installing a firewall and IE and so on) without putting my XP install online?

V-un-V; didn't your card come with ASIO drivers? most of the time those should be the ones to use, with some exception ASIO4ALL is only for consumer cards that don't come with ASIO drivers. If this is a issue with Apple's build in cards then it's likely caused by Apple's refusal to release notes on how those work, this affected Linux on Mac's as well but I thought a lot of that would be reverse-engineered by now.

Apart from security enhancements SP2 did make some changes to DEP which affected some drivers especially if more than 4GB of ram was installed and they used PAE although I wouldn't have thought this would effect audio drivers.

Some usb changes where made as well but I think these where for block storage devices.

Also Tablet PC stuff was included.

I was one of the poor gits that had to try to work out why things stopped working when sp2 was installed
