Pehr, the VCS3 Mk1 is famed for a sort of bubbling effect you could get from the filter (especially when it was being used as an oscillator), because there was a slight lag going on between the filter and its modulation source. I think the culprit was a decoupling capacitor or something- but you could try injecting a very quick lag to the filter.
That Moog filter also had a kind of 'rasping' sound when it was wide open (I know this because a mate of mine here in Birmingham has a IIIc and it has that 'sound').
hope that helps _________________ ACHTUNG!

oh and, fwiw, if you like echo (which I do too), Roland have done a virtual space echo pedal- which sounds (and looks) the business, although I myself have also been looking at the Toadworks Redux- which has some really innovative features- including a sort of random multitap delay setting. very cool indeed! _________________ ACHTUNG!

Sounds to me like two sawtooth oscillators (or maybe saw and pulse) tuned very close to unison. You got the envelope shape, just modulate the filter frequency as well. Just a very little amount or no resonance on the filter.
You could use a organ shape envelope (A=0,S=100%,D=0) for the vca, let the filter alone do the decay. |

Yes, the RE-20, right? It looks good, but a bit expensive. I'd rather buy the original RE-201
EDIT: In the YT-vid above he is using the BOSS DD20

Eh?? Run that past me again.......?
A bit what? Expensive?!?
RE-20 = £120
RE-201 = £400+
Right. Fine.......
The RE-20 is a shit-hot bargain!! _________________ ACHTUNG!

The new digital Space Echo clone is sickenly good. Approved!
And.. the Universal Audio software clone for the UAD-1 DSP card is way hot as well. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I'm curious to know why you would prefer the original over the cloned version- really just out of curiosity.
I've owned 2 space echoes and a Korg stage echo (which was noisy as hell btw). My last space echo just stopped working- although I sold it to someone who fixed it by using the motor out of an old Black and Decker drill! The speed was all wrong (too fast), but it worked. The other one I sold with a 400% mark-up on the price (well I needed the money dammit!!). But one thing I HATED was those fucking loops that went inside- and the price of that tape now? I tried making loops, but I kept getting a click, no matter how much I tried to splice at different angles, or demagnatise the heads.
So why would you prefer the 201? _________________ ACHTUNG!

I have owned a few tape echo devices myself. I see no rational reason for buying any of these secondhand. The digital clones will do just fine. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

It would be really cool to have the original RE-201 Real tape echo, analog stuff etc... It looks really cool to. I really like analog.
However, it is too hard to find in good condition and is way too expensive. If I'd stumble upon one for a reasonable price I would really buy it, but I'm not going to hunt one down on e*ay for $$$ or something...
So I really considering digital pedals. But right now my budget is too tight for the RE-20 or the DD-20 (i.e. too expensive right now).
Perhaps I'll buy a behringer DD400 for ~$30 to start with...
EDIT: I got the plucking sound when patching earlier today Using the Klee _________________ YouTube channel

i don't understand the term "plucked" really. on the G2 engine i have other sounds named like this.
maybe there were Zero VCOs patched.
those can give a very bellly and smooth lower end.
the sound reminds me to what i heard from the Zero.
it is useful to have a sequenz patched to the filter and to experiment with closing it almost.
it's about to alternat those lower an higer notes in adjustment with the sequnez for the frequenzy
patching a slew to the sequenz might be a good try to give pluckend sounds too.
Oakley has a nice pcb
@Pehr
why i post:
give the low pass gate a try, you will definitly REALLY like it,
and it's an easy build.(only the Vactrols are expensive, you can take the dual Vactrols)
look at fonics site:

I've been doing a little research about different, affordable delay-pedals the last days and I'm really interested in the DD-20. It costs the same as the RE-20 here in Norrköping and it also contains tape delay simulation also, so why not buy the DD?
It's great that it can handle line level signals so I don't have to build the cgs stomp box adaptor.
It also has Sound-on-Sound which is really cool.
Has anyone experience of the DD? quirks? _________________ YouTube channel

I was using DD-5 for some time. It is very good digital delay only. Best buy if you want digital.
What about Line6 stomps? DL4 is a monster and there is echo park also. |
