Yep, I remember Krunkus' panel. Quite ingenious and nice. I'm not that concerned with the screws; I plan to touch them up with black lacquer so they'll blend a little bit better. |

I started my Klee mid last year....June or so Life got in the way...or something.
didn't buy the EM boards as i already had started a vero version.
Dug it out this week, must be time to finish it.
I took a few shortcuts -
the clock and load momentary switches are wired to the clock and load jack switches. As i understand it, it means i cannot use the momentaries when a clock or load signal is patched in.
The clock jack runs via the normally closed(H) hold switch.
left out the gate/trigger circuitry, just have 16 buffer/LEDs/gates running from the 4034s, similar to those in Ken Stone" Gated Comparator (that is the smaller board on the left).
also the level select is simply a 9v regulator and diodes wired in series on the rotary switch, or external input.
the panel is the cover off a dead PC, switches, knobs, stick-on labels, pots all came out of the dumpster behind the Physics dept. at uni.
LEDs and jacks are new though....
I played around with many different panel designs, gotta say thanks to EdisonRex, the panel you posted in this thread was inspiring.
Of course Thanks to Scott, Uncle Kr. and EM for putting out this design.

Shit. I looked at the picture before I read your text, and I said to myself "damn that looks familiar".... !
That panel looks great, Andrew. It's actually closer to what I was thinking when I started my panel design.
I've had a real crap December and January, financials have been pretty much shit, most of my pay comes once a year and it didn't come yet. So my panel (and the time to work on it) has been waiting because of the work.
This inspires me though. I have the boards completed. Just I'm kinda stressed about money with 3/4 of my income held for ransom right now.
Thanks for posting that. It's really cheered me up. I'd like to see the thing work too. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

I must admit, it doean't look alot like the stripboard I designed.
That's kind of a relief actually, as the ones I did are untested!
So if it doesn't work, it aint my fault! _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Good! things have been a bit rough here too, so i did the panel to relax a bit. Drilling holes is a great stress release....not sure about wiring though. |

I think someone here has built your stripboard version, there was a post about it last August or so.
mine is just off the schematic, not much thought about it really. just work out where the ICs go, then start on page1/input circuitry and work my way thru to the outputs. i originally used the schematic in your Uncle K. Zip file, and added the extras, like invert switch, from the latest pdf version. |

Nice job.
Did you buffer the blue LED's? They are a nice touch.
Congrats! |

yes, I didn't build this as per the schematic, its a bastard Klee.
The 16 jacks across the top of the panel are stage outs, connected via the blue LEDs. If you check out the CGS Gated comparator you can see how i did it.
If you are building a regular EM Klee PCB, I think you can happily use blue LEDs without buffering.
I didn't build the gate/trigger section of a std. Klee, mainly cos the veroboard was chockablock with the rest of the cct. Maybe i will build it in future, easy enough to add it on.

Here's my Klee front panel finally done. I had a lot of trouble with the Lazertran process I am using and had to clean it off twice and repaint, Lazertran is finicky and while I've got he knack for smaller projects, this is the first large one I've done and it was problematic. The final panel has blemishes here and there, but I could'nt wait any longer. I went with the 60mm sliders and I think you can see bits and pieces of every other Klee front panel in the design, thanks guys, you know who you are.

That's a very nice job on the panel.
The lazertran is a nice way of labelling, I have been considering similar labelling for mine.
Did you do all the metal work?
Again, Nice job. |

Thanks, it was a lot of work. I did all the metal work, I have a drill press, and for the slots I used a 4.5 inch grinder, with a 1/16 disc, mounted in a stand which I then plunged into the secured metal, a bit of filling on the ends to square up and the slots where done.
Lazertran can be a pain. I print it reverse, put it toner down on the metal, then bake it in the oven. It has mixed results, and while the photo does not show it, there are large areas of blemishes on my panel where the Lazertran did not change properly with the heat.

i once played a little with lazertran and this oven mehod and experienced the same problems.
anyway, super nice and professional looking panel... _________________

That's a very nice job you've done there George.
I've never oven baked the lazertran, just polyurethane and gum turpentine onto wood, but I have also had problems with large areas. I'm confident about doing smaller sections, which I plan on sticking with now.
I did the Klee with two sheets, my ASM-2 took about six sheets and was my first try. I realise now that I was quite lucky that it turned out as good as it did.
Your panel looks really professional. Nice layout and graphics. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

Great panel!! - I was wondering about cutting slots for sliders with a grinder, so thanks for explaining the method, from the pic they look very straight.
(there is a box of 250 slider pots in my cupboard).
Lazertran - never worked for me, was like trying to unravel a spider web without breaking it
Now to do the wiring and do some Klee! |

For sure! the rest should be easier than the panel.
Thanks for the kind words people, I can upload the Front Designer file for the panel if anyone wants it.

George, just dropped in to take a peek at the panels ... really nice job. I love it. I really like the slider based panels that have been done
I should really post my Klee panel here also .....

Yeah, lots O' colors.
Tell us about your stuff, I see Blacet and Wiard represented. What's above the Klee and below it.
PM if you need to to keep the thread straight. |

I really liked your panel Bill and it was an inspriation for me, I copied your little motif for the glide pots. Nice rack o' stuff too! I see some PAIA stuff there, they are the ones that send me down the rabbit hole....
