Hi SDIYers

Next week I will publish on my site a new module, it's a filter inspired by the EMS-VCS3 filter. My design is based on the original design but makes use of transistor arrays. I designed two different versions : one using CA3046 and CA3096 transistor arrays, but unfortunately the CA3096 has become a hard to find part (and its price has tripled since it was declared obsolete), the other version uses a CA3046 and discrete transistors (instead of the CA3096).

Among the novelties, I added a CV input for the control of the EMPHASIS/RESONANCE : in the original design the resonance is voltage controlled but no CV input was made available both in the AKS and the VCS3, probably because of the limited size of the patch matrix. I don't know if this feature was made available in the Synthi 100 (Digitana model), may be if somebody around who owns a Synthi 100 could give us a clue ?

In the meanwhile here are some pictures of the prototype boards and of the front panel.

Stay tuned

I've been waiting for this VCF! Like probably many of us who never had/will never have a chance to play a real VCS.
The CV controlled resonance is truly a welcome addition! Do you have any soundclips of this filter ? Would love to hear how does it sound like!

This one will be my next filter project right after finishing some unfinished modules I'm working on.... Can't wait to try this one.
Thanks Yves for another great project!

Another module added to my to-do list.
Thank you very much Yves.
