Could the 4072 dual 4-input OR gate be used as as some sort of mixer? Or would the output be contantly High?

"mixing" in the normal sense is troublesome ... an "or" is high on the output when at least one input is, and an "and" would be low when at least one input is low, so there is a lot of masking. An "xor" masks less, but it introduces the "pseudo ring modulation ". A possible alternative would be to mix with a couple of resistors (and one going to ground).

All variations could be interesting of course Very Happy

I know, but I was trying to think of a digital way of 'mixing'. Rolling Eyes

My experience is that a gate can be used as a mixer, but sometimes the effect isn't what you want.

It's perfectly OK to build an OP amp analog mixer in your Lunetta. This is especially useful as a final output device.
